As an employee-owned company, we are incredibly people centric, which is evidenced by our Platinum Investors in People accreditation. A real area of focus for us at Fitwise is around Reward and Recognition, so much so that it is built into our new company values (which you can read all about here). In 2023, we were honored to be shortlisted for the IIP Award for Reward and Recognition, a testament to the efforts we make to show our staff that we care. We as a company make sure to recognise and reward our team in ways that are designed to help staff when they need it, recognise staff when they deserve it and add an element of fun into the workplace. Here’s a rundown of some of our favourite ways to show our staff how much we appreciate their hard work!
We recognise their work!
Each month
we have an above and beyond award which is presented to team members who have
exceeded expectations. Recipients of this award may have done things such as take
time out their day to offer their support to other departments, completed a
project to a high standard or shown initiative in a challenging situation.
Recipients of this award are thanked for their hard work at our monthly team
meetings and are given a gift card.
We have fun!
Each department takes it in turn to
organise a pay-day lunch each month which encourages staff to have a nice lunch
together and enjoy the time they have together in the office. We also have a
monthly staff prize draw where the winning team member is given a small prize
such as a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates.
We say thank you!
Every year our Senior Management Team organise activities for Employee Appreciation Week to thank the team for their continued hard work and contribution to the company. The week is a mixture of team rewards, fun activities, nice food and drink, and social occasions. The SMT always make sure there are activities on offer which will appeal to all the staff and in previous years have organised activities such as; a family BBQ, back massages, thank you cards, car wash, and a magician. Included within this week are also staff prize draws to win small items such as a half day holiday and meal vouchers
We invest in staff!
We prioritise training at Fitwise to recognise and encourage individuals’ professional and personal development. Each year we set aside an annual training budget and staff are given time off to attend courses such as Mental Health First Aid training, computer software specific training alongside the opportunity to become chartered members within their specialisms.
We all feel rewarded!
We have an active CSR Team at Fitwise who plan fun staff activities as well as oversee our charity efforts. Our chosen Charity for 2023/2024 has been West Lothian Foodbank. Over the past year we have raised money for them, we have collected clothes and food donations, and in August volunteered at their local distribution warehouse. This group is driven by staff and lead by the Fitwise Employee representative. The CSR team relish the autonomy they have to make the decisions about their activity they carry out based on a small, allocated budget.
