The pandemic really highlighted the importance of health and wellbeing in the workplace and at home. We are now out of the pandemic and normal life has resumed, but we can’t forget to keep health and wellbeing in mind as we get back to this normality.
We provide association management for some incredible healthcare associations, so health is often on our minds. We also have the pleasure of hearing some brilliant speakers, at the association events we organise, speak about their own and their patients experiences with mental health and wellbeing in their lives and workplaces.
Happy, healthy and motivated employees are essential to the successful running of a business so making sure you have the right processes in place, and people available to your employees is really important. Cat, our UK Sales Manager, is also our Mental Health First Aider and is always available to speak to anyone in the business. She regularly provides the team with resources and links to advise around mental health so that the team always know there is help available and someone to speak to.
Our Association Clients are based around the UK and some internationally, so virtual meetings are regular practice for everyone within the workplace. Shown in the pandemic, being virtual every day of the week can have a negative effect on individuals mental health, and it can be quite isolating. That is why we encourage our employees to come into the office for some of the week so that they can interact with colleague’s face to face. Check out our blog to find out more about how Hybrid working can help with health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Physical Health is also important to keep people motivated in the workplace. Our CSR (Corporate Responsibility) Group recently reintroduced our Wednesday Walking group where the team take an extended lunch to go for a walk in the peaceful countryside surroundings of our office, Blackburn House. This is great for mental and physical health, meaning the team can get back to their desks feeling refreshed and energised for the afternoon.
We also encourage employees to come in during our employee appreciation week in June each year where a variety of activities take place as well as a team BBQ at the end of the week. This year we had a pizza party when the good old Scottish weather rained down on us! Coming to this is a great opportunity for teams to mingle and is a brilliant aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing in the workplace, as well as an opportunity to show our appreciation for our staff.
