Your event’s route to net zero is an initiative Fitwise are discussing with our clients and associations when organising a sustainable event. As event organisers we feel it is important to keep the environment in mind, especially when the topic of the climate crisis is so prominent.
Events as a whole are one of the largest producers of carbon in the world, with delegates traveling from far and wide to reach one venue for an event. It’s important to recognise the growing importance of sustainability in the events industry and how we can address it.
When organising a sustainable event, we encourage clients and associations to do what they can to reduce the carbon footprint of their events. This might be by reducing how much printed material they have on site, like programmes and signage, or advising delegates of the best ways to travel to the venue in advance, like car sharing or by train. Fitwise can help clients further by working with carbon consultants to calculate the emissions for the event, who then provide solutions to educate, create behavioral change, and deliver a reduction of emissions at the event. This is a great way for clients to evaluate ways in which they can reduce their events carbon footprint before it even takes place. For example, Infection 360 2022 went through the full process, find out more in our blog about the event.
