The last time we posted about our Fitwise Team, we were looking back at Lynn Ward’s 15 years with Fitwise. In a change of pace, we caught up with our newest member of staff, Rory High. Rory joined the marketing team in February 2018.
1) What do you like most about marketing?
Marketing gives me an opportunity to be creative in my work, whether that’s design or copywriting.
2) What do you like about Fitwise?
Our clients make a real positive difference in healthcare – it’s rewarding to know that you are promoting something genuinely worthwhile.
3) What is your favourite part of the job?
Getting to flex my design muscles with the branding and promotional materials for clients. I’m from a linguistic background so I’m well practiced in writing blogs, press releases or e-mails but I don’t have much prior experience in design.
4) How are you settling in?
Everyone here has been incredibly welcoming. It’s always nerve-wracking to start a new job, but the environment here is so welcoming that it feels as if I have been here for a lot longer than three months. The marketing team, in particular, have trusted me with quite a lot of responsibility early on, which is great!
1) What’s your favourite place in the world?
I absolutely love Edinburgh! I never get bored of it – it’s so beautiful and there’s always something new to experience. Living here is like a dream come true.
2) What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
It’s so hard to choose, I like all sorts of different cuisines. The Vietnamese Red Curry at Ting Saboteur in Edinburgh’s Old Town is my current personal favourite, but I’m always looking for new independent restaurants to try!
3) What do you get up to at the weekend?
Most of my life outside the office revolves around sport in some way. Throughout the year, I’m often off at a fencing competition somewhere and in the summer I’ll be playing cricket. When I get a free weekend, I just like to relax with my friends.
4) What’s something you wish you were better at?
I’d love to be able to play a musical instrument. I’ve tried and tried but it’s just not for me!
