This month we catch up with Marketing Executive, Laura Cassidy.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I love the diversity of my job and the freedom to express creativity through design. Not one day, or even hour, is the same. From marketing strategies, copy writing and reporting to graphic design, social media and publication management, I’m constantly working on something different and it makes each day interesting!
What energizes you at work?
Besides coffee… the people! We all work closely together and we work hard, but we also laugh (a lot) and have fun – which is so important… because at the end of the day, we are more than what we do! 🙂
What’s your most memorable childhood memory?
My dad had a 30-year career with Philips. In the 1990s, one of their commercials advertising a smart sound TV featured a custom-built La-Z-Boy chair with an engine inside and a remote control that steered it. My dad found the chair in a closet at his office and asked what was going to be done with it. He was told it was broken and would just be thrown away, so my dad being my dad, asked if he could have it. He took it home and fixed it up. Our family had many years of riding that La-Z-Boy chair (reclined and all) up and down the streets. We got some looks from neighbours, that’s for sure! It unfortunately met its end when I brought it to my 3rd grade class for show-and-tell where it crashed into a curb (while my teacher was in it). It never worked the same after that.
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m not really sure what this “spare time” is you speak of? Between work, two young children and (pretending) to keep my house tidy, I don’t get much down time! But when I do, I’ve started making handcrafted wooded signs. Check it out!
