Corporate Social Responsibility at Fitwise

In 2014 the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team at Fitwise undertook a number of projects and activities to help raise money and to give back to our local community. From taking part in sporting events to a holding pub quiz, volunteering for charities to a Christmas raffle, the Fitwise team took part in a wide range of activities.

Back in March, we held a Pub Quiz at a local pub in Blackburn for Fitwise team members, their friends and family, and local members of the community. Prizes for the quiz and raffle were donated from a number of local businesses and all funds raised went towards the appeal to raise money for Rhys McTaggart, a local boy who required life-saving treatment in America for a tumour in his brain. The quiz was a great success raising nearly £400.

Throughout the summer various members of the Fitwise team and their family members took part in a number of sporting events. These included the 5k Cancer Research Race for Life at Callendar Park, a sponsored climb of Ben Lomond, the 974m Munro which stands by the banks of Loch Lomond. Money raised from the climb was donated to the West Lothian Foodbank and Autism Scotland. The team continued their vein of sporting events in September by then tackling the 2014 Pedal for Scotland 47 mile cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh to raise money for the STV appeal which support children in Scotland who are affected by poverty.

One of the Fitwise team members, MaryAnn, has also volunteered at a number of local events including the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal and a sponsored walk to raise funds for Alzheimer Scotland. All the Fitwise team are proud of MaryAnn’s dedication to the CSR group and all the time she donates to helping others.

We started 2015 by holding a raffle for Fitwise staff and their family members using the gifts that were kindly donated to Fitwise over Christmas by individuals and companies we work with. We successfully raised £315 and all funds raised were donated to the Dementia Cafes run in West Lothian by Alzheimer Scotland.
